Summary:

The Freedom Federal Credit Union Maintenance & Courier Associate is responsible for providing support to Freedom branches through day-to-day and preventative maintenance ensuring safe and continuous operation and upkeep of the organization's resources. This role also is responsible for the timely delivery and transportation of documents, packages, and supplies between Freedom branches and external postal services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Preventative Maintenance
    1. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly recurring tasks lists to ensure Freedom facilities are maintained properly.
    2. Including but not limited to interior and exterior check of each location to remove liter; debris; cleaning doors, windows, drive throughs, ATMs; drain cleaning.
  • Routine Maintenance
    1. Completely maintenance items as they occur in the course of business to ensure Freedom facilities are maintained properly.
    2. Including but not limited to changing light bulbs, minor and routine painting, moving or repairing furniture, and plumbing.
  • Courier Functions
    1. Provide delivery service including intra-branch deliveries to various Harford and Baltimore County sites.
    2. Pick up and deliver mail and packages to external postal service sites around Harford and Baltimore County.
  • Facilities Scheduling and Documentation
    1. Provide updates and completion statuses on maintenance tasks and assignments.
    2. Notifies Management concerning the need for major repairs to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment and all other maintenance related items.
    3. Assists with scheduling appointments and working with vendors for routine maintenance.
  • Vehicle Maintenance
    1. Ensures Freedom's vehicle is properly maintained according to manufacturer instructions, keeping such records organized and accessible.
    2. Maintaining cleanliness of vehicle interior and exterior to provide a positive company image.
  • Inventory Management
    1. Maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
    2. Ordering and receiving supplies as needed.
    3. Assisting with the setup and dismantling of equipment and furniture.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  1. Technical Knowledge
    • Plumbing - basic plumbing to include changing washers, valves, drain cleaning.
    • Electrical - basic electrical to include changing light bulbs, replacing ballasts.
    • HVAC - basic heating and air conditioning to include cleaning and changing filters.
    • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  2. Communication Skills
    • Consistent verbal and written communication to ensure good information flow.
    • Active listening skills by giving full attention and asking appropriate questions.
  3. Organization
    • Managing time and tasks to ensure productive and efficient completion.
    • Maintaining clean and orderly workspaces to ensure safety.
  4. Customer Service Orientation
    • Create a welcoming environment for staff and members.
    • Actively look for ways to assist people.
  5. Attention to Detail
    • Strong accuracy and attention to detail in tasks.
    • Ability to identify and rectify errors promptly.

Required Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in general maintenance including areas such as electrical, plumping, & HVAC
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Current Auto Liability Insurance
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs

Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations, and explanations with members, direct and indirect reports, and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating, and/or advising others on matters of significance.
