Job Overview

Sets up and operates CNC turn/mill machines, requiring a high degree of machining capabilities (tolerance, flatness, parallelism, concentricity, surface finish, etc.), complex setups, and manipulating heavy, and/or awkward material shapes and sizes. This position requires experience in reading complex drawings/blueprints, turn/mill machining and setup experience. The operator will be responsible for inspecting and documenting their own work and stamping identity codes/serial numbers.

Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Check router, part drawings, setup documentation, and CNC programs for correct and matching revision levels.

    2. Verify part is properly setup, including runout, flatness, and parallelism.

    Run the part to the part drawing specifications. Edit speeds, feeds, program (g-code), and machine tool offsets as needed.

    3. Deburr all necessary edges, to prevent injury to self and others, and to prevent damage to lifting equipment.

    4. Make out a move ticket to send the part to the next operation.

    5. Prepare required tooling and physically load into the machine tool changer. 6. Verify cutting tool condition, including wear, runout, tightening torque, and lubrication.

    7. Assist engineers and supervision to make improvements to parts, methods, fixturing and workplace organization for continuous improvement.

Qualifications/Requirements

High School Diploma/GED

Prior experience with Set up and operating of CNC turn/mill machines

Obey all safety rules, wear proper PPE, and perform housekeeping functions.
