The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Pay Range: $54,800.00 - $82,200.00

Job Description

INTERNAL APPLICANTS MUST APPLY BY 4:24:25The Virtual Military Education Resource Center (VMERC) Advisor provides comprehensive guidance and support to current military service members, veterans, and veteran dependents navigating educational and personal challenges by connecting them with relevant resources, benefits, and services available at WGU. The VMERC Advisor is a resource to military affiliated students assisting them through virtual outreach, training, advising and other professional support departments after completion of intake on to graduation/alumni. A strong candidate for this position must be able to successfully support individuals with varying diverse backgrounds. The individual must be empathetic, with strong communication and listening skills. The Advisor will assist the VMERC manager with oversight and coordination of the Virtual Military Education Resource Center (VMERC). In this position, the individual will coordinate and update pertinent information from the Department of the Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense and various teams and partnerships within WGU to ensure that information provided in the virtual resource center will align with student success.Primary Responsibilities
  • Work closely with enrolment and admissions to ensure military and veteran students set an appointment with the Resource Advisor immediately following intake.
  • Assist the student with completing Military and Veteran Orientation and navigating around the Virtual Resource Center.
  • Refer students to the appropriate sub team for VA or TA benefit utilization.
  • Refer all Veterans to the VITAL team for support.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication, coordination and working relations with students, staff, faculty, and other university personnel.
  • Ensures students problems are effectively resolved.
  • Maintains detailed records of student interactions; track progress as needed.
  • Work closely with Military and Benefits processors and student support teams across the university.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Military Outreach to collect and share information for the resource center.
  • Works closely with the Commencement and Alumni teams to support and attend events as needed.
  • Work closely with our Edtech team to provide and update valuable information on the Virtual Resource Center.
  • Promote a positive image of the University and upholds its reputation.
  • Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well-maintained.
  • Attends and participates in university meetings as required.
  • Attend conferences, workshops and events assigned.
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

  • 3 or more years of working with Military and Veteran students or relevant experience.

Experience in lieu of education

An equivalent combination of training, experience, credentials, or accomplishments demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements.

Position & Application Details
