CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

  • Performs repair and troubleshooting on food processing equipment to include, but not be limited to: Sizers, stuffers,vacuum pumps, vacuum packaging machinery, conveyors, slicers, injectors, microwaves and hydraulic units.

  • Replacement of belts, sprockets, gears, chains and valves.

  • Rebuild of valves, pumps and gearboxes.

  • Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic machine problems and make necessary repairs.

  • Performs repairs to machines involving machine guarding, bolt replacement and breakdowns due to mechanical wear.

  • Welding of machine components.

  • Preventative Maintenance tasks, such as lubricating of parts, drives, chains, etc.

  • Installations to include hooking up air, water, gas and alignment and leveling of equipment.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Crew Leader and Supervisor.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Must have good mechanical aptitude.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:

  • Hand tools, test meters, controls, etc.

  • The majority of the time is spent in the plant environment and will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

  • Noise level is loud in the production area and hearing protection is always required.

  • Must be able to lift up to 60lbs.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT/TRAINING REQUIREMENT:

  • Bump cap, hair/beardnet, eye protection/goggles, hand protection, hearing protection, LED helmet light, full-face respirators, single-multiple gas meters, Arc-flash clothing, Arc-flash face shields, fire-resistant hood, electrical gloves and safety shoes

MANDATORY TRAINING/COMPETENCY TO BE EARNED:

  • Proper Lifting, First Aid/CPR/AED, Asbestos, Blood borne pathogens, Aerial/Scissors Lift, Air Receiver Tank, Chromium VI, Compressed Gas Cylinder, Confined Space Entry, Lock/Tag/Try authorized, HAZMAT and Spill Response, Cut/Weld/Hot Work, Crane and Sling, Electrical Work Practices, Elevators, Fall Protection, Ladder, PSM, HAZWOPER, Emergency Response, PIT, Respirator, PPE
