Requisition Summary

PACCAR is seeking an Associate Commodity Manager to join a strong and growing Purchasing (Stampings & Fabrications) team. In this role, the successful candidate will negotiate and manage all aspects of PACCAR's relationship with suppliers, including the commercial/contractual requirements with respect to total cost, technology, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, logistics and quality. Commodity Managers are change agents, focused on delivering the highest value to internal and external customers at the lowest total cost.

A successful candidatewill demonstrateoutstanding time management, organizational skills, and the ability to run multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.This position will be based out of the PACCAR Corporate Office located in Bellevue, WA.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting ineffective cost management,improved supply chain performance, and enhanced product quality.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and implement new strategic procurement and logistical opportunities.
  • Negotiate and ensure supplier compliance to long-term supply and warranty agreements.
  • Issue formal Requests for Information, Proposals and Quotes (RFI's, RFP's, and RFQ's) and analyze responses to select suppliers that meet or exceed PACCAR requirements.
  • Collaborate with PACCAR operations teams to successfully develop and execute global supply chain and commodity strategies.
  • Communicate and conduct supplier performance management meetings between suppliers, truck plant teams, and truck division engineering, quality, and materials teams.
  • Travel to supplier locations to evaluate capabilities, capacity, assess production readiness, investigate new opportunities, improve manufacturing efficiencies and resolve chronic supply and quality issues.
  • Travel to PACCAR's operating locations in support of the above activities.
Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • 3+ years of purchasing, supply chain, or materials experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong writing and project management skills.
  • Experienced negotiator with demonstrated favorable results.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental contract terms and be able to draft supply contracts.
  • Experience with sourcing to support new product development and develop sourcing strategies. Successfully manage supplier through all phases of a product development program.
  • Perform advanced analysis on large data sets, draw salient conclusions from such analysis, and cogently present analysis to management.
  • Conceptualize and implement cost savings projects, andinfluence supplier behavior to meet PACCAR requirements.
  • Possess an understanding of cost drivers and how changes in those drivers affect cost.
  • Perform market research to identify and evaluate potential new suppliers.
  • Effectively communicateto various levels of management and suppliers.

Preferred:

  • Prior heavy truck or automotive experience.
  • Project management experience.
