Knowledge of guidelines established by JCAHO, CAP, OSHA and CLIA. Demonstrated technical and mechanical skills to operate and perform preventative maintenance on equipment. Meet CLIA/CAP High complexity testing personnel educational requirements as outlined in Code of Federal Regulations (CFR): 42 CFR 493.1489 1+ years experience paraffin embedding, sectioning, and staining. Ability to perform paraffin embedding, sectioning, and staining. Ability to perform complex laboratory procedures and follow established protocols. Ability to work under time constraints with the ability to prioritize work based upon departmental turnaround time, requirements and priority request. Ability to multi-task various projects and complete projects within the given time line. Must have technical and mechanical skills to operate and perform job functions. Must possess the ability to follow instructions as defined. Must follow established protocols and guidelines for specimen handling. Must have tact and diplomacy. Must maintain patient confidentiality before, during and after specimen test preparation and procedure. Continuously works at establishing a professional working relationship with all departmental personal. Knowledge of guidelines established by LCAHO, College of American Pathology (CAP) and the National Society of Histotechnology (NSH). Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) College of American Pathologists (CAP)and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)as well as Clinical Laboratory safety regulations. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the laboratory and EMR systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
