Director of Grants and Partnerships

The Director of Grants and Partnerships at Curry College is crucial in securing financial support for the college's priorities by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting corporate and private foundation donors. This position designs, implements and manages a comprehensive and proactive development plan focused on expanding and enhancing these relationships. The Director of Grants and Partnerships collaborates closely with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement to align grant activities with the college's strategic goals, works with faculty and staff to develop competitive proposals, ensures accurate budgeting and compliance with the finance department, and coordinates with various departments to develop grant-related materials. Additionally, the Director engages with alumni relations to support related programs and initiatives and builds positive relationships with external partners, including funding agencies and community organizations. The role requires meeting grant-related deadlines, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, and exercising considerable discretion in managing grant activities.

Essential Functions:

1. Grant Research and Identification
  • Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities from federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as private foundations and corporations;
  • Maintain a database of potential funding sources, including deadlines, application guidelines, and contact information;
  • Stay informed about trends in higher education funding and emerging opportunities in the field.

2. Grant Proposal Development and Submission
  • Lead the development of grant proposals, including writing, editing, and compiling necessary documentation;
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to gather relevant information and project details;
  • Ensure proposals are aligned with the college's strategic goals and priorities;
  • Submit proposals in accordance with funder guidelines and deadlines.

3. Grant Management and Compliance
  • Oversee the management of awarded grants, ensuring compliance with all funding requirements and regulations;
  • Monitor grant budgets and expenditures to ensure proper use of funds;
  • Prepare and submit required reports to funders, including financial and programmatic reports;
  • Coordinate with the finance department to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

4. Relationship Building and Collaboration
  • Develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies, program officers, and other key stakeholders;
  • Serve as the primary contact for grant-related inquiries from both internal and external parties;
  • Facilitate collaboration among faculty, staff, and external partners to develop competitive grant proposals;
  • Represent Curry College at grant-related meetings, conferences, and networking events.

5. Training and Capacity Building
  • Provide training and support to faculty and staff on grant writing and management;
  • Develop and distribute resources, such as templates and guidelines, to assist with grant proposal development;
  • Conduct workshops and seminars on topics related to grants and funding opportunities;
  • Foster a culture of grant-seeking within the college community by promoting awareness of available opportunities.

6. Strategic Planning and Reporting
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the college's strategic plan related to grants and external funding;
  • Develop annual goals and objectives for the grants office and track progress toward achieving them;
  • Prepare regular reports on grant activity, including successes, challenges, and future opportunities;
  • Analyze the effectiveness of grant-funded projects and provide recommendations for improvement.

Additional Functions:
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or their designee.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in grant writing and management.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing and managing grants from federal, state, and private funding sources.
  • Experience in higher education or nonprofit organizations is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field.

Salary Range:

$100,000 to $105,000
