DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Caseworker 2 position is responsible for managing a caseload with increased independence compared to a Caseworker 1 while adhering to agency policies and seeking supervisory consultation as needed. Employees in this role conduct assessments, develop service plans, and monitor progress while ensuring documentation accuracy and compliance with agency standards. They assist in guiding Caseworker 1 employees by answering questions, reviewing documentation, and helping them understand casework expectations, but they do not have authority to supervise or evaluate staff. Caseworker 2s also provide case-specific direction to Case Aides under supervisory advisement, ensuring tasks align with case plans and agency policies while reporting any issues to supervisors. Responsibilities include preparing reports, submitting case documentation, and participating in court proceedings as required, ensuring all legal requirements are met. Caseworker 2s work with legal representatives, treatment providers, and community agencies to coordinate services for clients and facilitate access to appropriate resources. Additionally, they participate in training and professional development opportunities, assist with onboarding Caseworker 1 employees, and contribute to team discussions to improve service delivery.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Occasional nights and weekends as needed as well as overtime.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • We offer a competitive starting wage of $42,198.00 as well as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, 14 paid holidays, and a pension plan.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
