DESCRIPTION OF WORK
-
In this role, you will contribute to the advancement of PennDOT by fostering an environment conducive to the effective and efficient design and support of bridge projects within transportation initiatives. This includes backing a strategically oriented design program, aiding in the formation and execution of interdisciplinary teams focused on achieving tangible results, enhancing work methodologies, integrating advanced technologies, and improving both service delivery and quality. You will also be responsible for ensuring that customer service is prompt, courteous, and accurate, while working to enhance communication both internally and externally, and elevating safety standards for both workers and travelers.
To align the District Office's bridge design and support initiatives with the overarching goals and objectives of the Department, you will organize, direct, plan, and coordinate strategic efforts that integrate bridge design with highway design, construction, maintenance, and intermodal transportation systems, all while considering customer needs and adhering to sound engineering principles.
You will provide guidance and allocate the necessary administrative, human, and technical resources to ensure the efficient and timely execution of bridge design and analysis tasks associated with assigned projects and programs.
Your responsibilities will include assigning work directly and through subordinate supervisors, establishing programs or objectives, and reviewing progress and completed work to ensure it meets established standards and criteria.
You will actively support and motivate all employees to engage in quality improvement initiatives, advocating for the recommendation and implementation of new strategies, as well as reorganizing and redesigning existing functions to eliminate inefficiencies and foster a sense of ownership and pride in both team and individual contributions.
Additionally, you will cultivate and maintain effective working relationships within the Department, with other agencies, public officials, relevant interest groups, and the general public to promote transportation mission activities and guide the organization into the 21st century.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) upon successful completion of probationary period.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate specialty and one year of experience in directing the work of civil engineers.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires the possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Post Employment Requirements:
- For the Bridges and Transportation parentheticals, successful candidates with an out of state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer License issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six month probationary period.
