JOB TITLE: Diagnostic Veterinary Pathologist JOB PURPOSE: Clinical cases in the WSVL/pathology section ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The selected candidates will function as a diagnostic pathologist alongside three other board-certified anatomic pathologists within the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory (WSVL). The diagnostic workload is diverse and includes significant numbers of companion animal, livestock, and wildlife cases. The WSVL works closely with wildlife stakeholders, including the Wyoming Game and Fish department. Diagnostic duties include gross and histopathological examinations on all veterinary species, as well as case coordination and communication of laboratory results to clients. The selected candidate will have opportunities to mentor veterinary student externs and collaborate with a vibrant community of basic, clinical, and applied scientists within the Department and across the University. Departmental faculty expertise is centered on infectious diseases of livestock and wildlife. The WSVL is a well-staffed and AAVLD-accredited diagnostic laboratory with BSL2 and BSL3 necropsy suites and in-house next-generation sequencing technology. The University of Wyoming Biocontainment Facility is also housed within the Department and comprises BSL-3 research facilities with small animal housing. Large animal housing facilities are available on a BSL-2 level. Our diagnostic laboratory has a very strong relationship with veterinarians and other clientele, supporting meaningful diagnostic and research-related interactions MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
