That's why we're looking for a Legal Support Services Supervisor to provide leadership and supervision to the Legal Support Services (LSS) team. Building and maintaining strong relationships with attorneys, legal professionals and business professionals will be instrumental in ensuring success.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for...



  • Overseeing day-to-day workflow and comprehensive administrative support of the divisions
  • Supervising a team of legal administrative and practice group assistants, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counseling employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and evaluating performance
  • Coordinating delivery of performance management feedback with Senior Manager; assisting LSS team goal setting and self-evaluation process
  • Managing daily attendance and staff leave request process
  • Ensuring team members adhere to all Firm policies and procedures and expeditiously resolving concerns
  • Partnering with Senior Manager on strategic planning and change management projects to include research, concept design, execution, and evaluation
  • Managing various projects in support of staff management and Division administration
  • Managing LAA assignments and staff/attorney ratios, coordinating daily staffing, scheduling, workflow, and backup/overflow support, managing staff overtime utilization, and ensuring available resources are being utilized
  • Maintaining various spreadsheets, databases, and reports on behalf of Senior Manager; providing updated information as requested by various levels of management
  • Clearly communicating with attorneys, administrative staff, and other departments on assigned projects, initiative, and issues


The successful candidate will demonstrate...



  • A minimum of five years relevant work experience, preferably within a law firm; two years of experience in a team lead/mentor or supervisory role overseeing the work and performance of staff
  • Strong focus on client service and responsiveness; ability to work in a consultative manner
  • Ability to lead and support a team by overseeing daily operations, setting clear expectations, and providing guidance to ensure team performance and growth
  • Familiarity with general business policies, procedures, and employment laws
  • Advanced level technical skills within Microsoft Office suite; intermediate/advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint preferred
  • Familiarity with document management systems
  • Ability to proactively anticipate challenges and identify effective solutions while considering diverse perspectives
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Prior exposure to organizational change and its impact to employees, supporting positive outcomes and familiarity with change management process


Pay Range for Candidates in Baltimore, MD: $80,000 - $110,000 per year

The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary that Venable in good faith believes at the time of this posting that it is willing to pay for the advertised position. Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate qualifications and location.
