Position summary:

The Seamer Transporter is responsible for supplying the Backing Line with proper rolls as per production schedule as well as operating the Seamer station as needed. This position will also be required to cross train on latex line and cutting line and will be expected to assist or fill in these areas as needed.

Educational requirements:

High school diploma or GED

Skills and experience:

Previous textile experience preferred

Good communication skills, verbal and written

Meet license requirements for powered material handling equipment

Fork lift/operator experience preferred

Essential duties:

Supply Backing Line 24 with scheduled rolls in proper run number and roll number sequence.

Place roll on Seamer bed.

Measure and record width of each roll.

Verify run number and roll number on roll ticket matches run number and roll number on the production schedule.

Verify rolls are running high to low oz per procedure.

Sew ends of new rolls onto ends of old rolls.Unroll the rolls.

Ensure rolls stay centered while unrolling.

Keep rollers clean of yarn.

Carefully watch carpet and address issues to ensure a smooth transition of carpet through rollers at sew-on into the line.

Notify Console Operator, Line Specialist or Supervisor ofpotential quality problems.

Cut out, scrap, and document all defects that jeopardize the quality of the carpet.

Send blue tickets to other end of the line.

Deposit all yarn and carpet scraps into specific containers to be recycled.

Maintain a daily log of production.

Keep sewing machine and cutter clean, oiled and in good operating condition.

Give breaks to Seamer.

Assist in unloading trailers of carpet or raw materials as needed.

Maintain housekeeping.

Be qualified and licensed to operate a lift truck.

Comply with safety rules.

Comply with environmental regulations.

Be aware of departmental material safety data sheets (MSDS)

Ensure ISO procedures are followed.

Understand and support Interface's commitment to sustainability.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical demands:

Standing for long periods of time

10 or 12 hour shifts as needed

Lift up to 50 pounds

Work environment:

Non-climate controlled factory environment

Work on 2nd floor mezzanine
