Volunteer Services Coordinator For one year, you can get paid to build sustainable solutions in a community, gain valuable hands-on experience and prepare for your future. This full-time AmeriCorps service position offers a great opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of others while building your own knowledge and skillset. AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities. What will you do? The Volunteer Services Coordinator helps recruit, train, schedule and recognize volunteers while growing the volunteer base and advancing individual and group partnerships. Market within the community to recruit new volunteers. Develop new events and opportunities for volunteers to engage with the mission of Habitat for Humanity. Typically serve Tuesday - Saturday to support work on the build site. Recruit and schedule volunteers for construction, office, ReStore, deconstruction, family services and special events opportunities. Assist with all aspects of volunteer management including orientations, maintenance of database, volunteer tracking and follow-up. Work with construction staff to ensure successful volunteer build days - signing volunteers in, providing orientation and safety briefings, helping put away tools with volunteers at the end of the day and ordering necessary volunteer supplies. Develop and/or revise volunteer recruitment, management and recognition tools. This position will focus on volunteer services aspects of Habitat affiliate operations. Where will you serve? Organization name: Habitat for Humanity of Orange County Nearest metropolitan area: Raleigh-Durham, NC Full-time staff: 33 Expected number of AmeriCorps members: 6 Number of homes to be built: 20 Activities and attractions: Beaches and the Atlantic coast are 2.5 hours to the east, and the Blue Ridge mountains are 3 hours to the west! Chapel Hill is a thriving college town with a plethora of amenities. In addition, Raleigh and Durham, NC are within a 20-30 minute drive from our office. Both areas offer an even wider variety of amenities and attractions including and extensive collection of historic sites, museums and parks. There is always something to do in the area! Unique projects: Our volunteer recruitment is primarily focused on our latest development: Weavers Grove. This will be a 238-home mixed-income community in Chapel Hill, and it has effectively doubled our annual production of new homes. Building more houses means a greater need for volunteers. However, this is more than just a numbers game - it is about meeting demand while simultaneously setting everyone up for success. This means thoughtfully recruiting volunteers, engaging them with the tasks at hand and helping them feel like a meaningful part of our Habitat community. Although the AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator works with all our groups, this role works particularly closely with our high school and university. In addition to providing us with a ton of volunteer support on our construction sites, these groups also work with us on fundraising and advocacy. By increasing our capacity to work with volunteers, the AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator is a critical part of our ability to build quality homes and a robust local community. The experience our AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator will gather during their service term will be memorable and indispensable. Unlike most other Habitat positions, this role spends a lot of time both on construction sites and in the office. On site, the AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator will focus on the day-to-day logistics surrounding our volunteers shifts. This includes everything from checking in volunteers and conducting orientations, to maintaining equipment and tidying up at the end of the day. In the office, the AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator will help with a wide variety of administrative tasks ranging from scheduling and communications to program development and event support. Life in this position is never dull, and by the end of their service, the AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator will have developed a robust set of skills that will serve them well in virtually any context! When will you serve? Start dates are flexible and based on this location's availability. Talk to the hiring manager for this position about start dates during your interview process. The start date will be 4-6 weeks from receiving an offer and no earlier than August 2025. Benefits of AmeriCorps service Living allowance of $20,400 for approximately 10 months of service.
