Mission / Purpose of the Job
The Operation Manager's mission is to turn the STC (Service Technology Center) into a strategic partner of our internal and external customers. He/She will lead and grow a competent and value-generating service operations team and ensure equal dignity to all brands served. He/She will continuously improve the infrastructure, operational and process excellence as well as introduce new tools and service products to bring value to our customers (cost, delivery, lead-time, quality, etc.).
With commitment to planning and providing the right level of in-house service at the right time, the operations team will contribute to increased customer satisfaction, growing market share and higher profitability. This requires the management of all administration, service workload, capacity planning, labor effectiveness and productivity for STC Operations.
He/she is responsible for ensuring a high level of quality as well as safety and environmental compliance, following company's policies and programs.
Impactful interaction with all stakeholders (customers, customer centers, suppliers, and division) is a key success factor.
Main Responsibilites
- Oversees the Services operations to achieve annual business goals for revenue & gross profit in coordination with the Service strategies and provide monthly reports.
- Manages service process improvement, manpower loading, equipment and material needs, and accurate control of all inventory.
- Manages and drives all customer issues to closure or initiates support when required.
- Manages and develops the team leaders daily to optimize resource utilization, quality and on-time delivery, time reporting, prioritize and coordinate daily work load, dealing with day to day employee issues, and interface with the service team leaders.
- Oversees operational expense budgets within agreed upon targets. Evaluates assigned staff skills, develops and deploys employee development programs.
- Manages team performance and development, including selection, recommends staffing levels and changes in accordance with company and departmental mission, coaching, discipline, manpower planning and motivation of staff.
- Develops, generates and provides strategic analysis reports (with focus on reason for variance deviation between planned and actual) for Key Performance Indicators such as: capacity planning, on-time delivery, turn-around-time (TAT), quality, labor hour cost, etc.
- Ensures that safety standards (SHE) are met and the cleanliness (5S standards) of the shop and warehouse.
- Develops and maintain Quality & ISO procedures, work instructions within the ISO certification guidelines.
- Develops and implement adequate and visible measures that are linked to continuous improvement.
- Champion VTPS guidelines and principles.
Scope:
- The role leads and develops the operations team and is based within a Service Technology Centre.
- It may involve regular travel to customer sites and occasional global travel when required.
- This role requires daily interaction with all levels of the organization, in both written and verbal formats.
- The Operations Manager role requires extensive planning, priority setting, coordinating of work and competing priorities. The incumbent must be able to balance all these items at any given time.
- This position manages an annual budget. Previous experience with managing operational/departmental budget/revenue targets is a must.
To Succeed You Will Need:
Skills / Knowledge / Experience
- A university degree/HND level qualification (or local equivalent) in an engineering discipline or business.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical Service/Re-Manufacturing/Operations Management
- Strong communication skills, organisational awareness and impact and influencing skills area prerequisite.
- Proven experience of change management, teamwork, active listening, communication, collaboration and empathy essential. Resource management and development desirable.
- Understanding of operational financial concepts (i.e. Efficiency and Overhead Variance, etc.)
- Knowledge of vacuum technology and service experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, SAP, MS Project highly desirable.
- Proficient in English - written and speaking.
