We are looking for a skilled Welder/Laser Operator to join our advanced manufacturing team. This role is crucial in supporting various aerospace applications through precision welding and fabrication processes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with multiple welding techniques and a strong commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in a clean and safe workspace.

Position Specific Details:

  • Shifts: A | Monday - Thursday (5am - 3:30pm), B | Monday - Thursday (3pm-2:30am), C | Friday - Sunday (5am-5:30pm), D | Friday - Sunday (5pm - 5:30am)
  • Location: Space Coast, FL
  • Relocation: Available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform orbital tube welding (OTW), TIG welding, and automated welding processes such as Variable Polarity Plasma Arc (VPPA) on aerospace components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to execute precise fabrications.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools like calipers and height gauges to ensure accuracy in all work performed.
  • Fabricate jigs, fixtures, and other metallic components in accordance with aerospace standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to strict safety and cleanliness protocols.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks on welding equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve processes and workflows and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Team Focus & Domain Expertise:

As a Welder, Fabricator, or Precision Welding Specialist, you will fabricate and weld flight hardware for spaceflight systems using techniques such as TIG (GTAW), Mechanical (VPPA) welding, and vacuum optimized engine nozzles. You will ensure the integrity and quality of aluminum, steel, and alloy parts through advanced welding processes, precision preparation, and meticulous attention to detail. Utilizing specialized equipment like gas welders, gas torches, and FSW machines, you will join metal components and conduct tests to ensure weld quality.

Maintaining machines and using precision tools will be essential. Strong mechanical aptitude, detailed technical instruction following, and clear communication are required. You will collaborate with engineering to refine manufacturing processes, reporting to either the AMF Shop Supervisor or the Weld Shop Supervisor, and directly supporting our manufacturing integration teams. Your expertise in welding techniques, engineering drawings, precision instruments, and commitment to quality and safety will be vital to our success.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED, plus a trade school degree, or equivalent years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in various welding techniques, Orbital Tube Welding (OTW), Tig welding, or Automated welding processes (VPPA): (0-3 years Level I Technician, 3+ Level II Technician, 5+ Level III Technician)
  • Experience in GTAW welding, including Inconel, specifically in an aerospace or precision manufacturing production environment.
  • Familiarity with Automated Welding Equipment (AMET, MITUSA, Seedorf).
  • Proficiency in using standard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment (band saw, chop saw, grinders, drills, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, heat-affected zones, and gas purity requirements.
  • Knowledge of various thin wall alloys (316 SS, Inco 625, CRES 21-6-9, Monel, Titanium) and metals (Aluminum, Titanium, Inconel, Stainless Steel).
  • Experience with AWS D17.1 and similar fusion welding or orbital tube welding specifications.
  • Ability to author/develop weld schedules that meet AWS D17.1 Class A inspection requirements.
  • Capable of using precision tools to accurately measure tight tolerances (calipers, height gauge, scales, etc.).
  • Substantial metal forming and fabrication experience meeting tight tolerances.
  • Must be able to pass a written math test and a practical Weld Test (1F, 3F, 2G, 3G, and 6G).
  • Familiarity with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings, etc.) and pressurized system safety.
  • Certification in welding, such as AWS Certified Welder or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers and height gauges.
  • Basic understanding of metallurgical principles and welding processes.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and comfortable working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field.
  • Extensive experience in aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • Experience fabricating jigs and fixtures for complex aerospace components.
  • Advanced knowledge of tube bending, facing, and cleaning techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with aerospace cleanliness standards and maintaining a compliant workspace.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
  • Willingness to work overtime.
