The Providence District Office seeks a highly motivated, experienced, and dynamic community outreach manager to lead engagement efforts and foster strong connections between the office and our diverse community. This individual will work alongside the current team in providing support for Supervisor Dalia A. Palchik and public service for over 120,000 residents and small business owners. The ideal candidate is a creative and highly organized individual who excels in event planning, public relations, and digital communication. Multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, as the ability to communicate with diverse community members is a valuable asset in this role.
Most work takes place in the office during business hours, but the candidate must be willing and able to attend after-hours events on nights or weekends as needed.
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 Annually, commensurate with education and experience.

Illustrative Duties
-
- Develop and implement community outreach strategies to engage residents, local organizations, and stakeholders;
- Build and maintain relationship with community members, organizations, and county staff;
- Plan, coordinate, and execute community events, to include elements such as logistical support, volunteer recruitment, and management;
- Design promotional materials, flyers, and graphics for community events and initiatives;
- Serve as a liaison between the Providence District office and community partners to foster relationships and promote engagement;
- Track and analyze outreach metrics to assess the impact of engagement efforts;
- Represent the Supervisor at community events, meetings, and public forums;
- Assist in managing the social media presence, creating compelling content and maintaining an active online presence;
- Respond to constituent concerns by providing resources and information to residents;
- Additional duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

- Strong knowledge of community engagement best practices and public relations principles;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to plan and execute large-scale public events and programs;
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with community members, local organizations, and other stakeholders;
- Proficiency in social media management and digital communication tools;
- Basic graphic design skills using Canva or similar programs;
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to a bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, political science, public administration, or a related field PLUS one year of experience in community engagement, event planning, public relations, and/or a related area.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Must possess, or be able to obtain, a Virginia driver's license.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Due to the scope and responsibilities associated with the position, the appointee must be willing and able to work occasional evening and weekend hours. The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with local government and the Providence District community;
- Possess exceptional written and verbal communications skills;
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently and collaboratively, and determine priorities;
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
- Multilingual proficiency preferred, especially in Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Arabic, Mandarin, or Farsi.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position will require occasional travel to attend events outside the office, typically within the Providence District or Fairfax County; may require lifting up to 15 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
