Position Summary

The Oiler is responsible for the lubrication, fueling, and routine maintenance of heavy construction equipment used in geotechnical, environmental, and heavy civil construction projects. This role ensures the optimal performance and longevity of equipment while adhering to Forgen's safety and operational standards. The Oiler works closely with equipment operators, mechanics, and site supervisors to maintain a safe and efficient job site.

Key Responsibilities



  • Perform daily lubrication, fueling, and basic servicing of heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, cranes, loaders, and other machinery.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and report potential equipment issues.
  • Monitor fluid levels and perform oil, coolant, and hydraulic fluid checks and changes as needed.
  • Assist mechanics with minor repairs and scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of fuel usage, lubrication schedules, and service activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Forgen's safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Operate fuel and lube trucks safely to transport and distribute necessary supplies.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized to prevent safety hazards.
  • Communicate effectively with equipment operators and supervisors regarding equipment needs and issues.
  • Follow all environmental regulations related to fuel and oil handling, including spill prevention and containment procedures.
  • Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.


Basic Qualifications



  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Valid TWIC Card.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Required The following safety training is preferred, but not mandatory. Company will provide additional training, as necessary.

    • 40 Hour HAZWOPER training.
    • Competent Person Safety Training
    • 8-Hour Supervisory Training
    • 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Training
    • First Aid and CPR




Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, extended standing or walking on project sites, climbing in and out of equipment, and working in confined spaces or at heights. Work conditions and demands may vary, with possible exposure to heavy machinery, chemicals, dust, fumes, noise, and extreme weather. Proper PPE, including protective eyewear, gloves, a hard hat, and steel-toed boots, is required. Effective communication, tool use, and adherence to safety protocols are essential.
