Summary: Operations Systems Leadership is responsible for leading the teams that ensure the daily system integrity of the Energy Management System (EMS). EMS is the main computer system supporting the Grid Control Center (GCC) and Transmission Operations Center (TOC). EMS systems are highly complex and critical transmission monitoring and management systems. The Leadership oversees operations of these critical systems that have high impact on externally interconnected organizations and utilities, PG&E's ability to procure energy, and system visibility for internal dispatchers. Leadership may be responsible for 24/7/365 operations as well as technical support during emergency events. Leadership continuously ensures a safe work environment and manages overall safety for the Operations Systems group and affiliated systems.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

  • Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area) $144,000.00
  • Mid Base Salary (Bay Area) $194,000.00
  • Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area) $244,000.00

Responsibilities:
* Supervises EMS Operations Team in 24-hour operations to provide system support, analysis, development, programming, and hardware maintenance for the EMS tool utilized by the Transmission Control Center (TOC) and Operations Engineering (OE).
* Coordinate with project leads to manage workload and accomplish specific performance objectives set for system availability, project completion, special assignments, and new technologies.
* Analyze and resolve complex real-time problems and issues that impacts on operations.
* Participates in strategic planning and engineering analysis on EMS. Works with partner departments such as the Grid Control Center (GCC), Transmission Operations Engineering (TOE), System Protection/Automation, Telecommunications Control Center (TCC), IT, and Construction for their support in completing critical work, and managing system performance.
* Develops and enforces procedures to ensure compliance with applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation - Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC/CIP) Standards. Interact effectively with external entities (CAISO, WSCC, etc.) as needed.
* Coaches, develops, and leads the EMS team to achieve the department goals and the individual's development objectives.
* Provides technical expertise to the design, procurement and implementation of Energy Management system applications and development of interfaces to the energy management system.
* Act as a technical working supervisor for supporting the real-time applications and displays.
* Ensure robust, high-quality product and accurate product is delivered to Operations.
* Contributes to group financial performance by monitoring budget and system performance, controlling costs, and reviewing and approving expenses.

Qualifications
Minimum:

* 5 years in an engineering, IT, or other relevant capacity.
* Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field or equivalent experience

Desired:
* 7-year experience in a real-time EMS or SCADA environment including computer systems, telecommunications, modeling, displays and real time data transfer.
* Good understanding of EMS SCADA model, Network Model and display building.
* Knowledge of California and Federal regulatory requirements such as Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), NERC/CIP, WECC, California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), and CAISO.
* Experience with Electric Transmission System Operations
* Extensive knowledge of the GE Grid Solutions/Alstom EMS
* Leadership experience and success in managing a highly technical/specialized workforce.
