Department Overview

PG&E's Marketing and Communications function shapes how PG&E communicates with the people it serves in Northern and Central California and the company's workforce. The function's responsibilities include keeping customers, coworkers and others informed about PG&E's progress in delivering safe, reliable energy; ways the company is helping customers save money on their bills; and how PG&E is harnessing innovation to achieve its bold climate goals. Additionally, the function drives marketing efforts to encourage customer participation in programs that promote energy efficiency, provide income-qualified bill discounts, and support electric vehicle owners, among others.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated communications leader to join our team in support of shaping, delivering and measuring communications strategy primarily for the CEO. The position involves a full complement of communications support, including working cross-functionally to develop communications plans and messaging, identify and arrange speaking opportunities, prepare visual presentation materials, and assist with social media content production, all focused on driving meaningful, high-impact engagements that help shape public perceptions, improve brand trust and build partnerships. The role would also oversee building an executive communications team that supports similar work for a broader scope of C-suite executives.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Reporting Relationship

Reports into the Vice President, Chief Communications & Marketing Officer.

Job Responsibilities

  • Proactively define communications strategy and messaging and serve as communications counselor
  • Work cross-functionally and with external partners to identify, pursue and organize speaking opportunities for the CEO
  • Assist in preparing talking points, Q&A materials and briefing memos
  • Assist in creating slides and other visual communications to convey key messages
  • Adhere to Lean principles in planning key metrics, tactics and impact of activities
  • Manage and develop a team of executive communications professionals

Compensation

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill be placed towards the middle point of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $220,000

Bay Area Maximum: $374,000

Background Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree or equivalent experience
  • Ten (10) years of corporate executive communications, ideally at a Fortune 500 company, or related experience
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Desired

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Communications, Journalism, English, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, or related discipline
  • Master's degree desired
  • Seven (7) years of management experience desired with an ability to manage staff and programs
  • Comfortable providing constructive feedback and guidance to senior executives
  • Demonstrated experience with on-site executive support at public events
  • Expertise in visual communications, including creating slides or other visuals to convey key messages
  • Expertise in social media platforms and trends
  • Strong writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptable to handle evolving situations on-site
