Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 15 years of demonstrated leadership; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 13 years of demonstrated leadership.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to achieve a Top Secret/SCI clearance is required, but an active clearance is preferred. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

As the Space Avionics Business Segment Director, you'll develop and implement product/program strategies, roadmaps, and cohesive integrated plans to meet business and program commitments relating to revenue, margin, quality, and schedule. The Space Avionics Business Segment is continuing our proud tradition of space flight hardware as we adapt to the current market conditions with introducing new products that modernize the mission and utility of space. This will require the successful leadership of your team of Program Managers (PM) and coordination with functional leadership for the development and execution of proposals, project plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables. You'll conduct reviews to drill down into issues on products/programs, develop corrective actions, and determine impacts and corrective actions to program teams.

What you'll experience:

  • A wide portfolio of space borne avionics solutions spanning Position Navigation and Timing (PNT), RF communications, and Networking products
  • Manages a team of highly skilled professional program managers supported by matrixed functional teams. Includes one remote PM.
  • Large collection of diverse government, traditional and non-traditional prime level customers
  • Direct customer engagement and escalation resolution responsibilities
  • Balancing programs, risks and opportunities with executable strategies to meet contractual and financial commitments
  • Conducts reviews to drill down into issues on products/programs, identify issues, develop corrective actions, and communicate issues, impacts and corrective actions to program teams
  • Developing and Owning Segment Financial Commitments and Processes for internal reviews. (i.e., own the P&L)
  • Driving active segment risk and opportunities management
  • Holding delegated proposal approval authority
  • Focused on Segment program performance and tight collaboration with Business Development to support new business. Assigns PM's to support proposals
  • Cost reduction and Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Program Manager resource forecasting and functional management including performance evaluations, pay increase recommendations, and hire/fire decisions
  • Prepares and presents Business Segment status to leadership
  • Reviews organizational capabilities, and development/execution of strategies, to improve the competitiveness of the organization through actions such as professional growth & development, strategic hiring, strategic partnering, and acquisitions
  • Delegates assignments to others for developing solutions
  • Effectively engages in complex negotiations involving various aspects of the business
  • New Product On-Ramp/Readiness
  • May be required to travel up to 25%
What you bring to the table:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 15 years of demonstrated leadership; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 13 years of demonstrated leadership
  • Strong and demonstrated leadership characteristics and inner personal skills
  • Experience with space flight hardware development, manufacturing, and test preferred
  • Skilled in the development and implementation of product/program strategy and tactics
  • Demonstrated leadership of a program with significant delivery or technical risk
  • Knowledge of the space market preferred
  • Demonstrated management of program management teams preferred
  • Ability to identify partnership candidates best suited to fill product gaps
  • Skilled in the development and implementation of product/program strategy and tactics
  • Understanding of business and supply chain strategy
  • Ability to track work accomplished to baseline plans and identify issues, track progress, and follow through on effective corrective actions based on data analysis and trends
  • Extensive verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead teams in matrix organization to achieve schedule, cost, and technical performance objectives
  • Ability to lead others in team building, conflict resolution, motivation, leadership and advanced risk management
  • Ability to apply advanced negotiation skills to solve internal, external and customer issues
  • Will interact frequently with internal personnel and outside representatives at various levels
  • Skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions on programs to internal and external representatives
  • Ability to execute company policies that affect immediate operations
  • Extensive ability to understand and analyze program/portfolio financial data
  • Outstanding relationship management and marketing skills
  • Expert risk and opportunity management skills and ability to apply them to programs
  • Ability to evaluate quality of work product to ensure satisfaction of customer requirements
  • Knowledge of government contracting practices and regulations regarding acquisition
  • Knowledge of MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Target salary range: USD $222,815.00/Yr. - USD $241,093.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
