Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As an electrical engineer for the Progeny Systems Business Area, you'll be a member of or lead a cross functional team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics and underwater acoustic systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and design analog and digital electronic circuits including signal conditioning, power, analog-to-digital conversion, transformers, inductors, amplifiers, and communication
  • Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware
  • Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems including test software applications
  • Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions
  • Design, analyze, and test underwater acoustic systems
  • Design and build prototype cable assemblies
  • Perform solder rework of prototype circuit card assemblies
  • Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer
  • Generate design and interface documentation

Qualifications:

  • Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation and test phases
  • Working knowledge of transformers and inductors, and how to size them including key parameters such as flux density magnetizing current, leakage inductance, transformer and inductors losses and temperature rise.
  • Working knowledge of op-amps and transistors, including Bipolar, JFETs and MOSFETs
  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design including signal integrity principles
  • Working knowledge of common communication interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-485, USB, CAN bus, LVDS, and protocols such as TCP and UDP
  • Proficiency in all phases of PCB design, including: creation of high-level functional and architectural diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry (OrCAD Capture experience a plus), and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc.
  • Familiarity with underwater acoustic principles
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Experience with the following a plus: battery systems, electric motors, and MATLAB programming

Target salary range: USD $139,189.00/Yr. - USD $154,412.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
