The Service Department is responsible for servicing and installing various natural gas appliances (residential and commercial), setting and maintaining residential and light commercial meters, restoring gas service to customers, and responding to after-hours and emergency calls. Important Note: This role is considered safety sensitive, and as such, you may be required to undergo various background screenings. This may include but is not limited to a driving record abstract, criminal check, a company sponsored medical and drug testing. This position reports to our Chapel Hill Operations Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. What You Will Do:
Installation Specialist IV (18 months experience)*
Must be willing and able to meet a 45-minute emergency response time from the geographical center of the Chapel Hill area. Emergency response time is a critical measure for the Company and candidates are required to consistently meet this requirement, including when on-call. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience: A demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures. A good mechanical aptitude. A demonstrated ability to use and comprehend mathematical calculations and formulas. Bilingual (Spanish) candidates. Working Conditions:
Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 80 amount of pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects 80 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement, grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 80 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement. Mental Requirements (Both field & office) include but are not limited to:Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
