Job Title UI Engineer Corporate Title Assistant Vice President Location New York, NY Overview This is a Product Owner role with the Trade Surveillance technology area in the compliance technology division. The division within the Bank aims to build scenarios to detect market manipulation via various statistical and rules-based techniques. It is also responsible to provide a fit-for-purpose UI to research alerts via graphs and analytical signals. The role would entail leading the technology team to ensure the technical deliverables are delivered within the agreed timelines. What We Offer You

What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain UI components, Widgets, Micro-Frontends using a mix of Angular & React with modern standards for HTML & CSS and adhering to established engineering standards.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL queries, and gRPC protocols.
- Contribute common components to internal common libraries to promote reuse.
- Expertise in optimizing web applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Peer review code written by other colleagues and provide constructive feedback to help drive overall code quality.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, understand and challenge requirements, provide estimates and collaborate with others team members as needed to deliver assigned scope.
- Solid experience in writing and executing unit tests for UI components to ensure quality and reliability.
Skills You'll Need
- Moderate experience working as a UI Engineer in a technology team (preferably in a financial services organization)
- A good understanding of web fundamentals - extensive understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Extensive experience of modern JavaScript frameworks e.g. Angular, React, D3, HTML5, Redux, Bootstrap, Node.js, etc.
- A background in creating high-quality web-based user interfaces. An understanding of how to ensure these interfaces are easy to navigate, linkable, responsive and accessible. Practical experience of test driven development and constant refactoring in continuous integration environment.
- Some experience of server side programming, preferably API development. An understanding of REST, GraphQL & gRPC principles and associated technologies
- In-depth knowledge of UI/UX principles and best practices to deliver exceptional user experiences.
- Experience working in an agile team, practicing Scrum, Kanban or XP
- Behavior Driven Development, particularly experience of how it can be used to define requirements in a collaborative manner, ensure that the team builds the right thing and create a system of living documentation.s
- Proficient in using version control systems like Git and integrating with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines.
- Educated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent.

- Knowledge of surveillance is a huge advantage
- Knowledge gained in Financial Services environments, for example products, instruments, trade lifecycles, regulation, risk, financial reporting or accounting.
- Able to work with remote stakeholders and team members.
Expectations It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.
