We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Environmental Specialist at our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Wichita, Kansas. Essential Job Duties:
- Set priorities, define, seek approval, develop and complete projects through consultants, lawyers, and company personnel for maintaining compliance with regulations and policies.
- Audit maintenance / production practices and resolve audit findings to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Demonstrate compliance to Federal, State, and Local authorities by preparing documents, communicating information, and directing inspections.
- Direct projects with engineering groups, maintenance, production and division groups by defining environmental concerns, organizing task groups, establishing priorities and tracking progress.
- Train supervisors involved with environmental practices and policies and develop training materials for the training of all personnel involved with environmental practices.
- Negotiation with governmental agencies to reach an agreement on current environmental issues.
- Make presentations to public, government and plant personnel to communicate status and positions of environmental projects.
- Make recommendations for plans and procedures to improve the plant environmental and operational procedures.
- Anticipate, provide comments, and direct the response of impact on new regulations to plant operations.
- Maintain knowledge of past and current practices to determine the impact on OxyChem's ability to comply with current and future regulations.
- Provide emergency response support on environmental related emergencies, which includes verbal and written communication to Local, State, and Federal authorities.
- Participate in the Wichita Plant process safety programs to complete Process Hazard Analysis, to complete the Management of Change requirements, and to investigate process safety incidents. Ensure process safety information is current and accurate for the physical assets (P & IDs), for the process conditions (PFDs), for the process chemistry (SDSs), and for the technician-process activities (procedures and work instructions).
- Supports and fulfills the requirements of the plant's ISO Quality System.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree is required
- 3 - 5 Years of environmental knowledge
