Description Outstanding opportunity to be part of a multi-faceted General Surgery group in a rapidly growing and diverse community! UNC Health Rex is seeking an experienced general surgeon to be part of our 5-member team of General Surgeons, a subsection of our larger group, which includes bariatrics, endocrine, colorectal, breast, acute care, hepatobiliary, thoracic, and surgical oncology. The General Surgery Division focuses on treating a breadth of surgical illness, including intestinal surgery, foregut surgery, hernia repair, skin disease, robotics. We value hard work as well as life balance. In conjunction with our Acute Care Division, we have developed a system in which we take call on weekend days, while they cover the rest. An excellent opportunity awaits! REQUIREMENTS 1. Provides professional medical services to general surgery patients 2. Exercises independent professional judgment in the care and treatment of patients. 3. Orders and prescribes medical treatment, diagnostic testing, nursing care and other health and medical services. Prescribes medically appropriate pharmaceuticals. 4. Consults and counsels with patients and families. Provides health and medical education to patients and families. 5. Refers patients as needed to appropriate medical specialists and other health care professionals to assure appropriate multidisciplinary care is provided. 6. Documents medical and clinical care in the patient's medical record. Assigns the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to permit third party insurance billing. 7. Supervises other medical professionals. 8. Adheres to the principles of medical ethics. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS North Carolina Medical License, DEA License, BLS/ACLS certification preferred. Board certified in Internal Medicine.
