As part of the Outpatient Ambulatory Pharmacy, we work in collaboration with other UVA pharmacies to provide best in class service to our patients! We are a closed door pharmacy, but that does not preclude us from offering excellent customer service while providing medications mailed to patient home, a clinical management program for patients on specialty medications, and prior authorization assistance by our medication access team! Here's what you can expect in this role: Patient Care: You will set up medication orders via phone with patients and/or their families. You will work closely with other members of the healthcare team to assist with insurance rejections, prior authorizations, and copay assistance. A Technician in this role would perform the following: Prepares and sends medications to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Demonstrates the ability to competently work in different general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. *Demonstrates the ability to competently work in general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice. *Participates in the training of new employees. *Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner. *Policies and procedures are followed consistently. *Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care. *Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed. *Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information. *Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements. *Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately. *In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Position Compensation Range: $20.68 - $32.05 Hourly
