DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will oversee a construction inspection team within Engineering District 9-0 and carry out various technical responsibilities related to the inspection of transportation construction projects. Your role will involve ensuring that all work adheres to approved construction plans, standards, specifications, and contract documents. You will act as the Inspector-In-Charge for highway construction and structure projects with limited work operations or assist on larger projects by supervising designated tasks. Your duties will include supervising the inspection of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements and established standards. You will verify cuts and fills, check elevation grades and structure stakeouts, and oversee the inspection and placement of all materials. Additionally, you will interpret contract requirements for contractors and subordinates, instructing them on sampling, testing, and inspection techniques. You will also perform calculations and sketches to assist in resolving field issues and ensure the preparation of reports and maintenance of necessary records. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50,836 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector; or
- Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
