THE POSITION

We have an exciting Retirement Systems Intern position available within the Public School Employees' Retirement System's (PSERS) Southeast regional field office. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Retirement Systems Intern with PSERS, you will be responsible for a wide-range of responsibilities such as scheduling appointments, completing data entry, sending correspondence, assisting with preparations for presentations, and filing, reviewing, and scanning duties. Some specific duties may include:

  • Handling the preparatory work for estimate requests and correspondence.
  • Coordinating the scheduling of retirement exit counseling sessions.
  • Copy and collate materials and provide basic preparatory work for retirement counseling presentations.
  • Greeting and addressing concerns of walk-ins with non-counseling issues or greeting counseling appointments.
  • Sending out routine member letters regarding appointments, retirement applications, and benefit summary letters.
  • Postage/mailing duties and responding to routine inquiries such as income verifications.
  • Provide assistance with data entry into the system such as the inputs for the generation of retirement estimates.
  • Manually creates the reports for over 700 employers each year for timely distribution.
  • Supporting the Management Analyst with the documentation of business procedures.
  • Assisting with office organization.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Temporary employment
  • This internship begins upon the date of hire and runs until graduation.
  • Work Schedule: Students must be able to work a minimum of 10-15 hours every two weeks during the business hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Within these parameters, hours are flexible with school schedules.
  • To be an intern, a student must be a full-time college student (12 credits or more) and able to remain employed through the end of the pay period in which they graduate.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in college full-time (carrying 12 or more undergraduate credits, or 9 or more graduate credits)
  • Enrolled full-time for the upcoming 2025 fall semester in any major.
  • Be in good academic standing (GPA of 2.0 or higher).
  • Be at least 18 years of age.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess computer proficiency, customer service, and professional skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
