  • We are hiring immediately for a CATERING MANAGER position.
  • Location: DivcoWest Quadrus Cafe, 2400 Sand Hill Road Suite 203, Menlo Park, CA 94025. Note: online applications accepted only.
  • Schedule: Full Time; Hours will vary depending on the day. General hours are Monday through Friday 8am- 4pm with some evenings and weekends based on business needs.
  • Details: Responsibilities include:
    • Set up, prepare, and execute events. Coordinate deliveries of campus & offsite catering. Work with Senior Catering & Event Manager, Chefs, and kitchen team to successfully execute all catered events
    • Manage the food and beverage provision for functions and events
    • Supervise catering and waiting staff at functions
    • Organize, lead, and motivate the catering team
    • Ensure health and safety regulations are strictly observed
    • Monitor the quality of the product and service provided
    • Manage the payroll and monitor spending levels
    • Interact with customers if involved with front of housework
    • Work closely with Senior Catering & Event Manager and Chefs
  • Requirement:
    • Experience in food service or hospitality: Prior experience working in a restaurant or catering environment is essential.
    • Food safety knowledge: Understanding and adherence to food handling regulations is crucial. Be manager food safety certified.
    • Customer service skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, Senior Catering & Event Manager, Chefs, and Kitchen team.
    • Leadership abilities: Ability to manage and motivate a team of catering staff.
    • Organizational skills: Efficiently planning and coordinating all aspects of catering events
    • Event planning knowledge: Familiarity with event logistics and coordination
  • Salary: $69,000

Job Summary

Summary: As a Catering Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Catering Department in all duties including training new associates, overseeing event set-ups, and directing any temporary personnel in addition to their everyday assignments. You will ensure proper service to clients during events, including proper set-up, cleaning, and breakdown procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises all catering events.
  • Involved in catering events operations, including logistics, quality improvement, sanitation, and all facility-related activities.
  • Works with the Chef in creating menus.
  • Trains catering associates in service techniques, menu presentation, and customer service.
  • Tracks and monitors the labor and food cost for each event.
  • Communicates on various levels to include management, client, customer and associate levels; maintains excellent client relationships.
  • Assists in the responsibility for all foodservice-related activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of food service experience including 1 year at the management level.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
  • Catering experience is required.
  • Some knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.
  • ServSafe Certification.
