What you will do

We make order/engineered to order commercial air handlers, you will lead Operations across our 200+ person plant. Johnson Controls' Plant Managers are people-supportive leaders who work towards results, improves processes, and develops strong teams. Specifically, this means you will play an integral part in planning, leading and reviewing production operations to achieve output and quality objectives; supervising expenditures and forecasting resource inputs; and operating, supervising and maintaining production equipment. How you will do it

  • Build, develop and lead team members teams in achieving goals in safety, quality, cost, delivery and other plant goals with full operational and budget responsibility. Establish budgets and operating targets.

  • Develop strategic operating, capital and other plans to improve effectiveness of operation. Lead large capital projects from conception to completion.

  • Allocate and manage resources (labor, equipment and materials) to optimize production output with respect to delivery, quality and cost.

  • Work with team to develop and implement materials management strategy (make/buy, Kanban/MRP, master scheduling time fences, inventory levels, vendor stocking).

  • Develop and implement key measurable to drive business improvements within the department.

  • Establish key strategic activity required to develop people to increase capabilities in meeting overall business objectives.

  • Ensure that production efficiency and schedule exceed the required level.

  • Ensure maintenance responsiveness and total cost of maintenance exceeds the required level with good management of all third-party facilities/site service contracts.

  • Maintain and develop the delivery of finished products in line with cost, quality and production schedule requirements.

  • Lead the development and implementation of significant improvements in department wide processes, procedures and systems.

  • Develop a continuous improvement philosophy with goals and timelines.

  • Maintain effective working relationship and communication with all departments and sees to the professional development of all assigned personnel.

  • Participate in Product Team meetings to help effectively improve the product line performance. Analyze operational performance and develop priorities for improvements.

  • Drive safety performance within the plant to achieve the JCI gold safety status (goal: no recordables or lost time injuries).

What we look for

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of ten (10) years of foundational manufacturing experience with progressive leadership leading Operations in manufacturing disciplines including Manufacturing Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Materials Management and Production Management.

  • Successful practice of servant and transformation leadership.

  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to seek out improvements using Lean Manufacturing tools; develop plans that meet a variety of goals simultaneously and be able to change these plans as business conditions change; use analysis tools to determine opportunities for improvement.

  • Experience developing budgets and managing financial performance.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially as they apply to communication and conflict resolution with the proven ability to work together with internal partners in a multi-functional matrix organization and with external customers.

Preferred:

  • Experience with "make-to-order"/high-mix manufacturing in a project driven environment.

  • Experience managing capital projects.
