Moog Military Aircraft Group (MAG) has an immediate opening for a SeniorCyber System Engineer.

You will report to our System Definition and Integrity department. This position can be based in Torrance, CA or East Aurora, NY. 9/80 work schedule at Moog Torrance location.

To be considered for the Senior Cyber System Engineer role, here's what you'll typically need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber or Information Security.

  • 10 years or more of progressive experience in the field of System Engineering at MOOG is preferred. Equivalent years of experience outside of Moog working with custom, hardware/embedded software will be considered. Experience related to aircraft or other military applications with safety critical requirements is a plus.

  • 7 or more of experience in cyber security with a focus on secure system design and implementation.

  • In-depth knowledge of encryption techniques and cryptographic protocols.

  • Experience with interpreting and implementing contractual and regulatory requirements for government contracts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber or Information Security.

  • Proven general capabilities/competencies in Building Strategic Working Relationships, Planning and Organizing, Customer Focus.

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CISA, CompTIA Security+, or CCSP.

  • Experience with risk management, including conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies.

As a Senior Cyber System Engineer, you will...

  • Develop the architecture and are responsible for the effectiveness of the system cyber security / cyber hardening technical solution created to support Moog's customer's needs. This will include electronic hardware, embedded/system software and development processes for Moog deliverable products to our customers including both flight hardware as well as support/test systems critical to satisfying the customer's application.

  • Participate in the development of the strategy for addressing cyber security for Military Aircraft Group (MAG) deliverable products for new and existing customers and products.

  • Participate in the business unit strategy development and technology roadmaps for cyber protections of MAG deliverable equipment and software.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Cyber Security System Design

  • Collaborate with the project team on the systematic capture, development and documentation of fully verifiable cyber security/cyber hardening/anti-tamper requirements as a part of Moog's systems solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule, and cost constraints through consulting with customers, staff and sales personnel.

  • Support the functional analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer cyber security/cyber hardening/anti-tamper requirements and industry, DOD or military service standards into deliverable hardware and software specifications. Effectively communicate these internal design requirements to the other members of the design team.

  • Lead the creation of Verification and Validation plans and procedures for the cyber security/cyber hardness testing of Moog systems. Investigate and create new test methods and approaches.

  • Lead system level cyber integration and test including any system anomalies investigations.

  • Coordinate specifics of cyber electronics requirements with electronics design team members and participate in relevant component choices and implementations.

  • Coordinate specifics of cyber requirements for test equipment/test systems for use by engineering, operations and, if delivered, use by Moog's customers.

  • Coordinate technical solution and testing results with any certification authorities in collaboration with our customers requirements.

  • Create concise reports and proposal write-ups that describe the design decisions and analysis results.

  • Manage system configurations to maintain security and functionality.

  • Expected to be able to work across Moog sites to coordinate the creation of system solutions. This coordinate will also include MOOG partners.

  • Significant support of STE design engineer to ensure proper verification and validation approach is utilized.

  • Some travel is required. This is estimated to be 4 trips per year to visit customers, vendors or other Moog sites.

Business Development

  • Contribute to the preparation Moog's proposals. Contributions to include coordination with the technical team for cyber system level architecture, technical/product strategy and technology utilization and the implementation of cyber technologies and techniques in Moog hardware and software products.

Project Management

  • Support the Integrated Product Team Lead (IPT) or Lead Engineer for the overall system level product.

  • Manage cyber security projects from inception to completion. Ensure timely delivery of secure and compliant systems.

  • Communicate to clearly convey security requirements and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Lead cybersecurity related design reviews or vulnerability exercises with internal, customer, or government stakeholders. Support design reviews for hardware and software designs that are impacted by cybersecurity requirements.

Engineering Leadership

  • Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its strong technical reputation.

  • Operate as a lead member in a team of creative, independent individuals.

  • Participate in the creation of strategic business plans and technology plans for business units from the cyber perspective. This to include business unit strategy maps, functional strategy maps and technology roadmaps.

  • Lead the development of seminars and training sessions for cyber system engineering methods and processes for other Moog engineers.

Cyber Security Skills

  • Threat Modeling:Ability to identify, prioritize, and mitigate potential threats to the system.

  • Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing:Experience in identifying vulnerabilities and performing penetration tests to ensure system robustness.

  • Incident Response and Management:Skills in detecting, responding to, and managing security incidents.

  • Security Architecture Design:Designing secure system architectures that encompass hardware, software, and network components.

  • Encryption and Cryptography:Proficient in implementing encryption techniques and cryptographic protocols to safeguard data.

  • Risk Management:Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies.

  • Access Control Management:Implementing and managing access controls to ensure only authorized personnel have access to sensitive information.

The range for these roles is posted below. Actual total compensation is dependent upon location and other key factors such as years of experience and industry related experience.

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $110,000.00-$150,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
