OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANYFox TV Stations
FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary The Newscast Director will lead the planning and production sides of newscasts, prepare studios for live broadcasts, maintain audio equipment, and envision creative ways to use studios and control rooms. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following duties. Duties/Responsibilities
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with on-air staff, off-air staff, production and technical crews, and management to deliver clean and engaging newscasts.
- Work with management and on-air staff to write stories and develop content.
- Lead implementation of new concepts and ideas for newscasts.
- Establish quality control and consistent look from the various technical operational positions.
- Manage post-show review, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving.
- Demonstrate responsibility for all equipment issued by FOX.
- Comply with all FOX Corporate computer requirements.
- Comply with all FOX Corporate and station policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Deep understanding of innovative production concepts that engage viewers.
- Ability to lead, thrive under pressure, and succeed while creatively delivering fast-paced news shows.
- Ability to direct during unscripted moments like breaking news and other live events.
- Ability to write and produce news segments.
- Ability to shoot and edit video.
- Proficiency with MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work under daily pressure and successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- This is a full-time, regular shift, but the news business is a 24/7 world and schedules can occasionally change due to vacation relief, breaking news, or other staffing requirements.
Education and Experience
- Two (2) years of experience directing live daily newscasts on an automation system.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Radio/TV, or related discipline preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
- Regularly stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to use tools, manipulate small parts, and make minute adjustments to controls requiring fine finger movements.
- Must be able to affix a wireless microphone to staff and interviewees.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $38.38 per hour. We provide medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
