Moog is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer provides application support services for electro-magnetic (EM), electro-hydraulic (EH), and electro-hydrostatic (EHA) actuation applications. You will be able to help customers (internal and external) with sizing calculations, simulations, PLC code development, commissioning, and troubleshooting of systems using Moog industrial products ranging from downhole oil & gas exploration to flight simulation motion base systems. You will provide design support to the engineering organization as required. You will report to the Manager, Systems Engineering and be located in East Aurora, New York.

As a Senior Systems Engineer you will...

  • Provide effective technical leadership to customers applying Moog products.

  • Support engineering organization by supporting design and production efforts as required.

  • Develop the standard processes and tool strategies for application engineering to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • Develop and maintain key relationships and communication with cross -functional team members, additional Moog sites, site leadership, customers, and strategic suppliers.

To be considered for the Senior Systems Engineer, here's what you will need to bring with you...

  • Bachelors in a mechanical, electrical or aeronautical engineering or related

  • 5 years of experience in the design and analysis of precision electromechanical equipment. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Knowledge of critical trade-space parameters for EMA system to meet technical performance as well as thermal constraints, volume, weight, reliability, noise management and cost.

  • Experience in the application of electro-mechanical actuation (EMA) systems.

    • Ability to perform detailed sizing calculations for the applications of power supplies, motor drives, gearboxes, and ballscrews for EMA systems.

    • Ability to develop dynamic simulations of EMA systems at the application level.

  • Leadership skills

  • Knowledge in the application of motor drives and EM actuators.

  • Experience in PLC programming for motion control applications.

    • Ability to perform detailed sizing calculations for the applications of power supplies, motor drives, motors, rotary and linear actuators.

  • Knowledge of high voltage (> 270 VDC/ 115 VAC minimum), (600 VDC, 230 VAC preferred).

  • Knowledge of software analysis tools such as MathCAD and Matlab / Simulink.

  • Ability to conduct laboratory/bench tests with potentially dangerous high voltage and high-power circuitry.

  • Ability to operate advanced test equipment, e.g. digital oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and data acquisition systems.

  • Knowledge of 6-step (BLDC trapezoidal EMF machines) and space vector modulated (SVM) (PM sinusoidal EMF machines) motor drives.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $110,000.00-$130,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
