The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) serves all UCI students, faculty, staff, and visitors. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers-striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them.

DFA Program Development & Execution (DFA PDE) serves the division as a trusted partner in project management supporting divisional initiatives and campuswide projects. A primary objective is to drive operational improvements and streamline processes to optimize resources and maximize outcomes by collaborating closely with stakeholders, departments, and external partners to identify opportunities for innovation, implement best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.


Your Role on the Team

Uses skills of instructional design and multimedia development as an experienced professional to help shape educational content into coherent instructional materials across various domains, including budget training, continuous process improvement, procurement, and other designated topics. The incumbent will often need to become a subject matter expert on these topics, conducting in-depth research and collaborating with domain experts to develop original content. The primary objective is to create comprehensive and engaging learning resources that facilitate the knowledge and skill development of the target audience which may involve the development of e-learning modules, training manuals, job aides, presentations, web knowledge pages, and various materials tailored to educate diverse staff and student workers. Demonstrates high degree of collaboration and diplomacy, as well as strong problem analysis and creative solution skills. Solves complex content or delivery related issues in collaboration with technical teams. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel. Normally receives little direction for ongoing assignments.

The expected pay range for this position is $69,500.00-$90,000.00 (Annually)

Required:

  • Capable of managing multiple, diverse assignments concurrently, ensuring accurate and timely completion, with regular communication to the supervisor on progress and challenges.
  • Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems, such as Office 365, online survey tools, and internet software, and common instructional authoring tools such as Storyline 360.
  • Thorough knowledge of e-learning strategies including but not limited to courses (e.g., processes and technologies, etc.).
  • Knowledge and ability to apply usability and accessibility principles as specified by industry standards and regulations (USSG, ATAG, WCAG).
  • Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills. Demonstrates analytical, problem-solving, project planning, and project management implementation skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of applying adult learning theories and educational methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge to conduct appropriate job and task analyses in the context of instructional design of technical or specialized training.
  • Familiarity with technical tools and platforms for creating engaging learning content and awareness of educational technology trends.
  • Thorough knowledge of functional area and understands how work within one learning product may impact work being done on others or in other areas.
  • Thorough knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including webinars, workshops, asynchronous learning methods, etc.
  • Ability to generate creative and innovative ideas across various formats, leveraging strong storytelling and visual thinking skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in creating and developing learning materials in a complex business environment.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Thorough knowledge and skills with Adobe Creative Cloud and HTML/XML
  • Project management
  • Prosci certified
  • Lean six sigma certified - yellow, green, or black belt
  • ATD membership/certifications
  • Instructional Design Certificate

Special Conditions:

  • Hybrid work schedule (1-3 days in office; more if necessary due to project requests/deadlines) partial on-campus and partial remote required.
  • May require onsite work at various campus locations.
  • Work outside of normal business hours may be required.
