DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position is designed for trainees who will be engaged in the operation of equipment used in highway construction and maintenance, as well as undertaking various manual labor tasks as part of a highway or bridge maintenance team. The role includes comprehensive training aimed at obtaining the necessary licensing and certification for operating heavy construction machinery, specifically focusing on equipment such as Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) and loaders with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less. Trainees will gain hands-on experience in conducting and documenting essential pre- and post-operation inspections, making field adjustments to ensure safe equipment operation while minimizing wear and tear. Additionally, the position requires proficiency in using a range of hand and foot controls, adhering to safety protocols by utilizing seat belts, and managing the installation and removal of tire chains on dual wheels.

- Full-time employment
- Winter Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
- Summer Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
- Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.
Conditions of Employment:
- Certain positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.
- This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
