Main Accountabilities
  • Day to Day responsibility for the laboratory team
    • Line management and supervisory responsibility
    • Identifying and carrying out all required training
    • Recruiting and training future talent for future roles in the larger organization
  • Formulation Development
    • Represent Azelis expertise with key principals and at industry events
    • Lead the development of project plans, senior lab staff, commercial colleagues, customers, and principals.
    • Act as a leading Azelis technical expert with forward vision and deep insight into future technical trends. Provide technical guidance for our lab projects and areas in which we should focus.
    • Routinely provide expert customer support with clear, concise, and timely communication.
    • Listen to customer requests, document them in clear objective terms, and identify possible ways to technically fulfill them, and prioritize them with commercial guidance.
    • Deliver a steady stream of unanticipated technical innovations over time. Identify opportunities to not just match competitive technology but advance beyond competitive technology
    • Conduct lab studies to prepare the formulations and test aspects of their performance.
    • Interpret lab results. Form and report sound conclusions and recommendations in a clear manner.
    • Develop theoretical technical insight into unanticipated formulation behavior and use this to develop innovative formulations.
  • Implement laboratory procedures
    • Develop new test methods for formulation performance testing.
    • Assist with the management of the laboratory by ensuring accurate records are kept in line with regulatory requirements, maintaining stock records where required, and perform maintenance on equipment.
  • Knowledge Sharing
    • Use digital tools as they are developed for the betterment of Azelis knowledge sharing.
    • Communicate/Share knowledge and discoveries with technical and commercial colleagues on a regional and global basis as appropriate
    • Work in cooperation with marketing to share Azelis knowledge as needed for commercial success.
    • Communicate learning to our global labs.
  • Training
    • Provide technical training for our commercial and technical colleagues in our lateral value chain of products and formulations based on them
    • Assist commercial colleagues in seeing how they can use the Azelis labs to achieve competitive advantage
  • Health and Safety
    • Responsibility for all health and safety procedures in the laboratory
    • Continuous improvement of health and safety procedures
    • Ensure all team members follow health and safety procedures
    • Provide training to team members where required
Experience, Skills & Education
  • BS degree minimum; MS or PhD preferred.
  • Broad related industry experience and understanding
  • Operational experience in the market segment served or an adjacent field
    • Analytical approach and attention to detail
    • Excellent listening skills and ability to write and speak clearly and persuasively
    • Ability to liaise with people at all levels and to influence and achieve results through others
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Ability to quickly learn new systems and product technologies
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines (with safe procedures always the first responsibility)
    • Strong, relevant IT skills
    • Flexible approach
    • Team player; Ability to work as part of a small team
    • Good knowledge of English
