DESCRIPTION OF WORK

During this internship, you will be responsible for identifying, mapping, and collecting water samples from coal mining locations. It is essential to conduct water treatment at these sites to reduce the impact of post-mining drainage. The intern will collaborate with inspectors to gather water samples from both active coal mines and industrial mineral sites. Additionally, you will conduct background research and utilize existing mapping data to propose effective treatment strategies for the impacted mining areas.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time internship that will run from 5/1/2025 through 8/29/2025
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Internship Requirements:

  • Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree, or advanced degree program in one of the following majors:
    • Engineering
    • Geology
    • Environmental Science
  • An approved major course of study at an accredited college or university
  • Good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher)
  • Freshman year completed
  • Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university
Additional Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
