Manager of Sales Engineering

The Telecom Sales Engineering Manager will lead and mentor a team of sales engineers, driving pre-sales technical support within Metronet's commercial sales organization. This role is pivotal in aligning technical expertise with business objectives, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving revenue growth.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Team Leadership: Oversee and mentor a team of SMB and Enterprise Sales Engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess a deep understanding of networking technologies, specifically, Cisco Meraki solutions.
  • Team Development: Provide ongoing training and development to the sales engineering team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay up to date on the latest technology trends, particularly Cisco Meraki products, to effectively position solutions.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency within the sales engineering team.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as engineering, operations, and product management, to ensure seamless delivery of solutions.
  • Customer Interactions: Collaborate closely with Sales Engineers to support pre-sales activities, engaging customers to grasp their technical needs.
  • Data Analysis: Employ data and metrics to assess team performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage budgetary allocations for the Sales Engineering team, optimizing resources for maximum effectiveness.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a technical sales engineering role, with a strong focus on networking technologies.
  • Deep understanding of Cisco Meraki products and solutions.
  • Cisco Meraki certifications (e.g., Meraki Solutions Specialist) required.
  • Industry preferred certifications: CCNA, CompTIA Network+, MEF-CECP, Wi-Fi design
  • Experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, such as TCP/IP, routing, and switching.


ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:



  • Experience with fiber optic networks and IP telephony is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory compliance is essential.
  • Demonstrates judgment within established procedures and practices.
  • Possesses problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with customers and attend industry events.
