Job Summary

Applies professional concepts to conduct analytical studies or projects of moderate scope and complexity to address a variety of policy, research and procedural issues. Fully analyzes issues and problems, gathers data and information, finds and evaluates alternatives and makes sound recommendations.

The team member will join a collaborative and exciting team of researchers at the F.I. Proctor Foundation studying infectious/inflammatory eye diseases in the U.S. and internationally. Researchers at the F.I. Proctor Foundation conduct clinical trials and large epidemiological studies on ocular inflammatory diseases which can cause blindness. The epidemiological studies involve large administrative databases and multicenter clinical trials involve domestic and international collaboration. This position requires an employee with excellent communication and organizational skills who can be relied upon to play an integral role in implementing research studies (including international clinical trials). The incumbent will be asked help with database creation, data analysis, and manuscript writing. The employee should show a strong interest in clinical research and a desire to contribute to the state of knowledge on the prevention, treatment and correlates of disease. The incumbent must be able to multi-task, problem-solve, and apply creative solutions to new and unexpected situations at first with substantial supervision but gradually with more and more limited supervision. The employee must be able to communicate effectively verbally and through written materials with collaborators

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $55,700 - $90,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The F.I. Proctor Foundation for Research in Ophthalmology at UCSF is committed to engaging in research activities and providing state-of-art patient care that address infectious and inflammatory disease that cause blindness. The mission is the prevention of blindness worldwide through research and teaching focused on infectious and inflammatory eye disease.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum of 1 years of directly related experience
  • Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
