Praise and Worship Coordinator

Position Summary

The Salvation Army Minneapolis Parkview Corps is "doing the most good" by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; and connections to community partners.

The Praise and Worship Coordinator leads and enhances the worship experience through music and team development. This role includes coordinating praise and worship activities, mentoring team members, leading children's music programs, and providing training to support praise and worship ministries at other local Salvation Army locations.

$21.51 - $30.00/hour, 25 hours/week

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)



  • Coordinate Praise and Worship Activities (50%): Lead the praise and worship team during weekly rehearsals, Sunday services, and special events fostering an engaging and uplifting worship experience.
  • Develop and Mentor Worship Team Members (20%): Provide training and mentorship to team members, helping them grow in leadership, musical abilities, and spiritual development.
  • Lead Children's Music Programs (20%): Plan and direct interactive music activities and classes for children's programs, encouraging creativity and musical growth.
  • Facilitate Worship Ministry Training (10%): Conduct workshops and classes to support other local Salvation Army locations in establishing and enhancing their own praise and worship teams and leaders.



Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in music, ministry, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in leading praise and worship teams in a church setting.
  • Proficiency in guitar, piano, and vocals.
  • Experience working with children's music programs.
  • Experience mentoring and training individuals or groups.
  • Pass background checks, possess a valid driver's license, and meet MVR requirements.

Working Conditions



  • Work is typically performed in a church setting, including the sanctuary, classrooms, and common spaces.
  • Evening and weekend availability required for rehearsals, services, and events.
  • Must be able to lift and carry musical equipment, such as instruments or amplifiers, up to 25 pounds.
  • A flexible schedule is necessary to meet the demands of the role and accommodate special events or services.
  • Business casual environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
  • Must communicate clearly with colleagues and church members.



Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Driving/Travel Requirements

Occasionally drive an agency or personal vehicle locally for training and workshops.
