Para Educators RTI

Purpose Statement

The job of Paraeducator Tutor RTI is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional
program with specific responsibility for assisting in the assessment of at-risk students' needs for
Response to Intervention (RTI /RtI)) services; implementing the RtI program strategies; monitoring and
reporting student behavior and performance; and providing information to appropriate school personnel.

This job reports to the Assistant Principal of Student Services.

Essential Functions
* Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials in conjunction with the classroom
teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and implementing 504
accommodations.
* Assists students, individually or in small groups, for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing
intervention strategies.
* Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying
information relative to job functions.
* Collaborates with instructional staff, professional support personnel, and parents for the purpose
of assisting in evaluating needs for and progress of Rtl intervention strategies.
* Communicates with parents and teachers via emails, phone calls, in person meetings, etc. for the
purpose of advising them of non-attendance issues, progress or providing information on needed
follow-up services.
* Facilitates student learning for the purpose of achieving success in academic skills.
* Maintains manual and electronic files and records for the purpose of providing written reference;
and/or meeting mandated requirements.
* Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective
functioning of the work unit pertaining to District 219.
* Provides time-limited supervision for the purpose of providing a positive learning environment.
* Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of
reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing 504 plans; and ensuring students success in
school.
* Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students, in support of the classroom
teacher, for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or
administrative personnel.
* Supports classroom teachers and other school personnel for the purpose of assisting them in the
implementation of curriculum and integrating RTI intervention strategies.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet
changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions
of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications;
preparing and maintaining accurate records.; planning and managing projects.

KNOWLEDGE is required to understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly;
and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required
to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar, punctuation, and math;
stages of child development and learning styles; and age appropriate activities; business telephone
etiquette; methods of instruction and training; knowledge of board policy, district, state and federal
regulations/laws.

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate
data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of
circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using
defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar
types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create
action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem
solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to
satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining
confidentiality; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with constant interruptions.

Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; leading,
guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of some resources from other work units may be required
to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization's
services.

Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical
demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or
crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and
20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Experience

Job related experience is required.

Education

Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area.

Equivalency

College degree, teaching certificate preferred.
