JOB SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision this position is responsibility of serving as frontline staff in Building Lobby at various rotating stations (e.g., Crews Hall and the W-Building), efficiently assessing customers' needs, and providing appropriate assistance and direction. This role requires maintaining awareness of staff availability to effectively service students, accurately documenting student interactions and needs in an electronic system, and ensuring the lobby area remains welcoming, clean, and well-organized with up-to-date information. Additionally, the position involves supporting campus tours and participating in other events as needed.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet customers entering the Crews Hall in a professional, polite, and helpful manner.

  • Assess the customers' needs through effective communication & providing appropriate assistance and direction based on that assessment.

  • Have a clear understanding of FERPA guidelines when assisting visitors.

  • Understand general functions of Enrollment and Student Services departments: Information Call Center, Student Records, Financial Aid, Advising, New student Coaching, Career and Transition Services, and Assessment.

  • Assist in large and small-scale campus tours as needed.

  • Answer telephone inquiries and direct incoming calls to appropriate resources.

  • Maintain literature racks, lobby tables, and Welcome Desk area monitoring and discarding outdated materials as needed.

  • Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's degree.

  • Minimum of Two (2) years of proven clerical/ receptionist experience in a client-facing roll.

  • Ability to learn the rules and procedures quickly that affect the customers of IRSC.

  • Positive student-centered attitude.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in person, over the phone and via digital communications.

  • Ability to work with a diverse student & staff population.

  • Strong commitment to the college goals of enrollment, retention, and completion.

  • Exhibit sound judgment and discretion in working with students and the general public.

  • Knowledge of basic office skills including proven experience with Microsoft Office and Windows applications.

  • Ability to work independently as well as with others and be self-motivated.

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks at once.

  • Ability to maintain strict accuracy and be detail-oriented.

  • Knowledge of multiple languages or have practical understanding of various cultures preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires the ability to stand for the majority of a shift, in addition to sitting, walking, bending, lifting, reaching up, stooping, and occasionally carrying items in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. Manual dexterity is necessary to operate standard office machines, such as copiers, faxes, calculators, telephones, and other equipment as needed. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
