What you'll do

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our Developer Platform and Infrastructure team, where you'll drive the development of scalable, robust platforms that empower engineers across our organization. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing core infrastructure services that enhance developer productivity and accelerate our engineering processes. With a focus on reliability, security, and high performance, you'll work across engineering teams to architect and build solutions to meet the growing needs of our developers. This position is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, Software Engineering.

Responsibility

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable developer tools, platforms, and core infrastructure services, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to architect solutions that enhance developer productivity and optimize the developer experience
  • Define and implement best practices for infrastructure management, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation, enabling rapid and reliable delivery of applications
  • Drive the technical strategy and roadmap for platform infrastructure, identifying opportunities for innovation and system improvement
  • Mentor and guide engineers on the team, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and continuous learning
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize infrastructure systems, addressing performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and reliability concerns
  • Advocate for DevOps principles, championing automation, resilience, and high-quality software delivery across the engineering organization
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure platform security and compliance, implementing best practices and addressing vulnerabilities proactively

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • 15+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong background in both backend and frontend development
  • Experience in programming languages such as C#, Java, Go, or similar, with experience in building developer tools and automation frameworks
  • Experience in test-driven development techniques via nUnit, xUnit, MsTest and other unit testing frameworks
  • Experience implementing DevOps practices and tools, including monitoring, logging, and alerting, with a focus on reliability and resilience
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standards for infrastructure and application deployment
  • Ability to architect and implement robust, automated deployment workflows that integrate with CI/CD pipelines and support multiple environments

Preferred

  • Extensive experience with deployment orchestration platforms
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and mentoring abilities, with a track record of leading technical projects and guiding junior engineers
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage telemetry data to drive insights, develop actionable improvements, and create innovative metrics that enhance system observability, performance monitoring, and proactive issue detection.
  • Experience with on-call rotations, demonstrating the ability to effectively troubleshoot and resolve critical production issues under pressure, ensuring system stability and minimal downtime

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $186,200.00 - $276,125.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
