Related positions are contingent on board approval. Provides professional support and direct assistance exclusively to all schools offering Advanced Placement (AP) and Pre-AP courses as a part of City Schools' expansion of AP programming across all high schools and select middle schools. Directly assists schools to ensure that AP and Pre-AP teachers are formally trained prior to teaching AP/Pre-AP courses and collaborates with content leads within Teaching & Learning to make sure that ongoing professional learning is made available to those teachers in a regular and sustained manner. Consults with schools to help manage their individual AP Program Plans - adding of courses, material needs, planning for teacher recruitment - along with scheduling and participating in annual visits to all AP and Pre-AP classes for observation by the GAL coordinator and content leads from the district office. Manages the preparation for the AP Summer Academy annually inclusive of teacher and student recruitment. Collaborates with the other Educational Specialists in the Gifted and Advanced Learning office to guarantee that best practices in gifted education are incorporated in AP and Pre-AP classes and works to expand AP and Pre-AP access to students who have been traditionally excluded from these courses.
