Patient Account Representative

Description

We are seeking a Patient Account Representative to join our team in Williamsville, NY.

In this role, you will work to resolve registration issues, advise patients on their payment responsibilities, and collaborate with various teams to ensure accurate patient accounts.

What You'll Do:

  • Review and resolve registration denials.
  • Register patients and verify correct insurance information.
  • Research and resolve insurance issues, including contacting patients about registration or demographic errors.
  • Review assigned EPIC work queues for patients with deductibles and co-insurance.
  • Contact patients by phone to inform them of pre-payments due.
  • Resolve underpayment issues with contracted carriers.
  • Counsel patients on self-pay responsibilities and options.
  • Assist in training new personnel and attend reimbursement seminars.
  • Meet with the Patient Account Supervisor to discuss patient issues.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with the CBO staff.
  • Develop a good understanding of payer guidelines and act as the first contact point for patients.
  • Comply with Corporate Compliance Policy and HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical claims processing, data entry, customer service, or billing
  • Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in operating a computer, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, and telephone.
  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy, especially when handling figures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
  • Ability to communicate professionally in both written and verbal formats.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with EPIC work queues and patient account management.
  • Familiarity with payer guidelines and insurance processes.
