POSITION

Allspring is seeking a Network Engineering Lead to join Allspring Engineering and Technology (AllspringET) team. The Network Engineering Lead will be based in the US and will ensure optimal network connectivity in and across global offices, work from home and cloud compute.

We currently operate in a hybrid working model, whereby you will be required to work in-office 3 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develop and maintain network standards including:

    • Office and work from home connectivity to cloud resources including AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure, OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), O365, Teams, Zoom, etc.
    • SD-WAN and SASE including Silver Peak and ZScaler.
    • Inter-cloud connectivity.
    • Office switches and switch stacks
    • Firewalls
    • Office WiFi
    • VOIP connectivity supporting Teams and Call Centers.
    • Office and cloud ingress/egress
    • IDF/MDF and rack design
    • Office cable plants
    • IP schemes, sub-nets and routing
    • Office ingress/egress
    • Network security and availability


  • Build strong relationships with technology teams, solution teams and business owners. Understand business and technical needs. Design and build network solutions in support of new and migrated services. Ensure solutions align with existing standards.
  • Ensure operability, availability and performance of Allspring network standards by building in redundancy, resilience and monitoring, especially for mission critical functions such as trading floors, call centers, etc.
  • Build centrally managed office networks where local end user compute teams or super users can provide physical layer support when network engineers or admins are not available.
  • Mentor and lead domain education across a team of network engineers and admins who operate Allspring's global network. Ensure prompt resolution of networking incidents and events. Evaluate and resolve root causes of network problems.
  • Ensure 7x24 support as appropriate to support SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and OLAs (Operating Level Agreements) using the network team. Ensure prompt management of network related incident, problem and service request queues.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree or higher MIS, CS or other technology related field
  • 10+ years of engineering and technology experience, preferably in Financial Services, Technology, or related field
  • Be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and prioritize duties to meet deadlines with limited supervision
  • Proven strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective influencing and consensus-building skills
  • Strategic focus on problem-solving
  • Strong teaching and mentoring skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Position may require occasional travel outside of primary work location
  • Proven experience working effectively in heavily distributed environment
  • Consulting experience is a plus
  • Exhibited experience with maintaining strong documentation
  • Experience with the ability to transfer knowledge to key members of the team and act as a value-added resource
  • Proven experience of being on-call and leading others to be on-call for support and maintenance issues; able to troubleshoot independently and lead others to do so effectively.
  • Ability to interact confidently with counterparts at all levels within the firm and coach and mentor others to do so.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability collaborate with teams spanning a range of locations
