SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant assists with patient care, clerical and organizational tasks, patient flow, appointment scheduling, and patient chart management. The Medical Assistant will also provide information to the patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic's services. He/she will report to the Clinic Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Assist the Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Clinic Manager.
  • Greets, assists, and interviews patients.
  • Gather information, including a basic history and medical information, and take vital signs.
  • Record weight, blood pressure, and temperature.
  • Ensure all related documents are uploaded into the patient's file promptly.
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies.
  • Maintains up-to-date inventory and notifies the Clinic Manager of any discrepancies.
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, verify and update patient data promptly.
  • Receive invoices and submit them for payment.
  • Track the annual physicals and keep an up-to-date list.
  • Perform Respirator Fit Testing, Pulmonary Function Testing, breathalyzer, Saliva Testing, Urine Dipstick Testing, Urine Drug Screening in line with DOT regulations, Vision Screening, Audiometric Testing, Safe Venipuncture, and Injections.
  • Perform clinical duties as assigned by the Nurse or Physician Assistant. Assist with examining the patient, treatment, special tests, and procedures.
  • Maintain clean work areas throughout the practice site.
  • Sterilizes, cleans, and performs checks on medical equipment.
  • Performs office duties and administrative tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma is required. A valid Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, or RMA) is required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification is preferred or can be obtained within six months of employment.
  • The ideal will have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in medical assisting.
  • Knowledge of vital signs and patient triaging is a must.
  • Must show maturity when in contact with fellow employees and patients.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
