**This position will work on 2nd/evening shift.**
The Entry Machinist is responsible for the successful operation of machines to produce quality parts for our Tennant products. In this role, you'll use a variety of tools, mechanical instruments and techniques. If you are mechanically and technically inclined and pay close attention to details, then this is the role for you.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Perform at two brush manufacturing work cells
* Set up and operate machines at a maximum efficiency rate while meeting productivity, quality and safety requirements
* Inspect parts for conformance using measuring instruments (Pull Force gauge, Tuft weight scale)
* Fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments
* Read engineering blueprints, and measuring devices such as caliper, micrometer, and other gauges used in machining
* Recognize, communicate and document safety concerns
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
* H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
* 6 months - 2 years machinist experience OR machinist certificate
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Requires standing 90% of shift
* Frequent bending, twisting, squatting and lifting with arms extended
* Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. Average part weighs 5 - 15 lbs.
* Requires good manual dexterity
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:
* Hearing and vision protection required in all areas
* Safety shoes required in all areas
* Exposure to oil, grease, dust, metal particles, sparks, sharp-edged materials
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
* Exposed to hazards/risks that require body protection (gloves, pants, steel toes, sleeves, safety glasses, etc.)
