Depending upon the qualifications of the successful applicant, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position as Sr. Nuclear Engineer or Nuclear Engineer III Summary: This is the career/senior level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level manage work in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They are fully competent in use of concepts and procedures. They identify problems, develop solutions, and take actions to resolve. Senior Nuclear Engineer represents a level at which career may stabilize for many years. This power uprate engineering position will support needs of the power uprate projects primarily at Catawba Nuclear Station (CNS) and McGuire Nuclear Station (MNS), with potential ability to flex to other strategic capital project needs as required. These positions will require a diverse understanding of plant specific systems, layouts, and design basis, as well as require flexibility between different project needs. This may include plant walkdowns, vendor interfaces, development of program/project documents, assistance with funding packages, schedule development, and other needs consistent with large projects. The position should be located at a Charlotte area Duke Energy nuclear facility or corporate office, allowing convenient access to both MNS and CNS as the sites of the power uprate projects. This position will report to an engineering manager in the power uprate organization within the Strategic Capital engineering group. This position allows a hybrid work posture with work split between in the office and remote. The position is a normal office working environment that will involve onsite plant visits based on project needs. Responsibilities: With Minimal Supervision:
