Overview
The mentor is responsible for working with student - athletes who are experiencing academic difficulties and/or have newly matriculated to Utah State University. The mentor's role is to serve as a supportive resource for student-athletes and provide them with tools and resources to help them mitigate their identified challenges. Mentoring helps student-athletes learn fundamental academic success skills that can help them become more effective at self-regulating their own learning. The position will be utilized mostly in the area of handling tutor/mentoring appointments and training.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee scheduling of tutor and mentoring appointments
  • Create monthly reports indicating academic session data
  • Oversee no-show policy communication
  • Serve as a mentor in student-athlete academic services (SAAS) department (when needed)
  • Assist in SAAS training of all tutors and mentors
  • Communicate to campus faculty and staff and recruiting of tutors

Mentoring sessions do not include:
  1. Subject tutoring
  2. Personal Counseling
  3. Course Advisement/Eligibility


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Junior, senior or graduate student
  • External university candidates must have a bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with excel and scheduling software
  • Must be ethical, responsible and professional
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
